It turns out they were looking for an intern to help them in the Office of Communications, and absolutely everyone there had things they needed help on so they definitely had the need. Once at NASA I spent 12.5 years in the EVA operations group where we taught astronauts to perform spacewalks and then worked in Mission Control during the EVAs.
Things like being active in school activities and doing things outside of your studies. Then deadline for summer applications was April 1st, so maybe it's too early to hear anything?

Maybe I can offer a different perspective. If the same guy is still running the intern hiring there like he was a few years ago, then I know he particularly likes to hire a lot of interns. The UARC is looking for an intern to support its Aerospace Systems division. If you are looking for a career at NASA, look into the Pathways internships.
I thought rockets and NASA we're cool, but I never seriously thought that I'd want to work in a scientific field. There are plenty of people who get internship offers without doing an interview (in fact, I didn't interview for my internship at LaRC last summer). I think I got really lucky, but I also think I was able to show I would be willing to work hard if given the opportunity! The only other job I had in high school was scooping ice cream! When accepted at NASA, I felt that my dreams had come true and I was home where I belonged. - Andrew, I studied hard and stayed in school ;-) I grew up in central Ohio and I knew I loved math, science, and space in high school and have wanted to work as NASA since I was a 4.5 year old kid. There are plenty of people who get internship offers without doing an interview (in fact, I didn't interview for my internship at LaRC last summer). However in a lot of cases (but definitely not all) a project mentor will interview potential candidates before making an offer. If you haven't done an interview then chances are you aren't being considered for the position. Don't lose hope yet! If the position is still listed as available then no one has officially accepted it and it's still open.

Are there any Biochemistry/Biology related internship positions for undergraduate college students? If you don't get an offer this year, keep doing things to improve your application for next year. I'm currently enrolled in a two year engineering program with hopes of working in the aerospace industry in the future.
