If you don't have at least a 5-man squad and all the hunter weapons equipped, soldiers WILL die. I use the workshop mod "Rulers Take Normal Turns". I get that xcom is supposed to be hard but the Viper King was legit walking up to my squad then one shotting them all in like a turn and a half.
Armor/Weapon Upgrades Are Permanent. According to the change notes, this is fixed in 1.3 and no new copies should spawn, although note that it doesn't go back and erase copies already hanging around the map. Making one of each of the eight subclasses should be enough to do that, but especiallyâ¦. One of my favorites: when alien turrets are on top of roofs, a single grenade will make them fall and immediately be destroyed. Sectoids will mind control your squaddies, or make them panic, while Codexes will drain their ammo in a psychic exploding whirlwind. Viper King shows up at the end of month 2. The Viper King, or Subject Gamma, is a unique alien enemy encountered in the Alien Hunters DLC for XCOM 2.. Now you just don't want the pizza cause that last little bit you put on ruined it. Use Specialist Medics.
But in mission #4 with 4 poorly equipped dudes? First at the strategic layer, then at the tactical. I don't mind hard things but the Viper kings are straight up cheaty getting 4 turns to even one of mine and they basically one shot everyone. But donât go below four on any of types of enemies. Wait until you get tier 2 weapons and armor and then start the mission.

I don't have time to do that, and it would be a horrible waste to buy the game only to not play it due to some crappy preinstalled expansion. Sure enough I am able to hold up against it decently well not losing any soldiers and most of them ending up lightly wounded.
But they need to be close enough to one another that they can aggressively push any enemies threatening specific soldiers, particularly, as discussed above, Sectoids and other enemies with mind control. If you only have rookies and you face an alien ruler all you can do is to hope it will bait on the rookies while the VIP runs to the evac, then buy new recruits. Viper King is an Enemy in XCOM 2. They're legit wiping my squad in 1 turn. This is scary! All Discussions ... Not proud of it, but was forced to choose between having to loose my entire squad or enable cheats, kill the viper king, and turn off cheats again. Get Magnetic weapons before you bother with that DLC, if you dont' disable the mission, Alien rulers wont appear until you complete the DLC mission.
I feel like rulers were meant for the most hardcore of the fanbase, and have documented how much they hurt new user sales.

I just started with XCom 2 and I have no ♥♥♥♥♥ clue how to kill this thing or where it comes from? The Ranger class, especially at early levels, can be difficult to keep alive if you use them as vanguards, charging every new enemy. This wonât just free the characters, itâll free them right away. The Proving Ground room â which is necessary for the plot, so youâll be pushed into building it â gives you that chance. the rulers will not appear. Sure the first time I met it I was all like - OMG - but they are very much so defeatable. This is cool to watch, for sure, as plasma weapons and grenades knock walls and cover down.

I've done 10 missions on normal difficulty and only lost one soldier to a faceless surprise. Get Special Grenades and Ammo. They don't show up randomly.
