I wouldn't have eaten here if it wasn't for the wifi and the fact that it was really the only option at dinner time, as the Lake Hotel Dining Room requires reservations. Do not expect luxury. But where things fell apart was in the bathroom.

Always ask which Lodge you will be in. There are no other choices in the park and that's a shame. Staying in a national park tends not to be glamorous. Place looked awful inside and out. Be careful when you stay here. As with everything in Yellowstone, it is expensive, but in general, everything is clean & cozy.

Nice lodge lounge to sit in as well on the front porch. This allowed me to stay in the cabin, but only because I really had no choice...they were booked solid in the entire park. There was enough room on the floor by the door for that so it worked.

The shower was a disgusting sheet metal insert with an odd spigot style shower. The food was bland, often dry, and just plain overpriced. Keurig single coffee maker in room was nice but they had Newman's own dark roast which is a very strong coffee and I recommend a more medium blend.

After reserving a room in Lake Yellowstone Hotel, Xanterra claimed they did not have a deposit for my room and cancelled it without notice. Not having an operable toilet for $479 a night was not good and having to use the public toilets was a true pain in the @ss. The room also came with a small table, which was a welcome feature after five days in an Old Faithful Inn room that was not so appointed. If you have such limitations book even earlier!

There were two decent double beds, and the decor is rustic and basic.

Late check-in is available during limited hours. On the third night, the kids refused to eat there - they said they'd rather go hungry. The lodge at Grand Canyon in Yellowstone seemed much better managed with great food options too and the Signal Mountain Lodge in GTNP is an absolute gold star winner!
