Has this been addressed by seinheiser? Starting with a fully charged case and headphone, it should take 7 days of standby time for the case and earbuds to completely drain.
idk but they did include a cable so maybe that's a clue. I think these sound better than my wired IE 80’s.
I have charged my buds for hours using the charger for my MacBook Pro only to see the case go orange after barely using the buds. Which explains why left drains faster than the right side.
Clean bass and crystal clear vocals. Anyone notice that left earbud is only 60mAh battery while the right side is 85mAh? All I can say is WOW!
It charged and was a solid green.
Good thing we aren't holding our breath, lol.
With the Momentum True Wireless, Sennheiser delivers on sound—but it isn’t immune to some of the more annoying problems facing all fancy-free buds.
I don’t have any audio quality issues though. 4 months later and this still hasn't been fixed. The battery issue is mildly annoying at best. They mention if they are in the charging case they will drain and if left alone for a few days they will be dead? By using our Services or clicking I agree, you agree to our use of cookies. When it was pulsing orange I took out the earbuds and the case went to solid green.
That said, the earbuds themselves remain in standby at all times, rather than powering off—meaning they're discharging slowly at all times. I returned my MTWs for a number of reasons, including this one - but I wanted to share that this issue affects other products. Left ear bud was at 82% and the right was at 92%. When fully charged, the right earbud provides a four-hour battery time, ensuring that the full MOMENTUM True Wireless system offers the specified four hours of play time. Cookies help us deliver our Services. They are put in a "standby" mode that consumes minimal power to be able to start and connect via Bluetooth as soon as possible when they are removed from the case.
I don’t know what firmware you guys are using but they released a version where you can shut down the earbuds from the app... so yes they did address it.
I mostly use these to workout in and I have many Bluetooth earbuds in a rotation like the Tarah Pros, X3s, Fitbit Flyers, Bose SoundTouch Wireless, and PowerBeats 3s so these don’t get constant use. The case hasn't been unplugged in close to 24 hours.
Perhaps upon its debut, $300 was too rich for your blood; well, the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless well below $200 now with the advent of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2. just updated today and eveything has been fixed! Gonna test that later. Not sure whether to purchase these given the reports of a battery drain and users commenting that this makes them not fit for purpose. Here's the official response from Sennheiser when I reached out them about this back in December: When the Momentum True Wireless earbuds are placed into the case, they go into a low power stand by state, and the case provides a trickle charge to keep the battery topped off. Well that might change my mind if that’s the case.
Well that’s just shit. Looking to update from my trusty IE 80’s. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast, Press J to jump to the feed. Momentum True Wireless - is the battery issue a deal breaker? They’re really comfortable and just sound amazing. uodated was rolled out yesterday! Someone on here said a while back, different chargers impart different power through the cable so it might be that the Sennheiser charging case can only accept wall charger output using a phone plug or other USB-A adapter. Sennheiser are saying late March for the firmware update which promises a fix. Do you have a pair and have tested that it works?
I bought a pair of Momentum True Wireless earbuds on Friday, updated the firmware and used them for a few hours.
But really, it sucks that the MTW have so far been one of the worst big-ish-ticket items I've ever purchased.
Oh?
I bought a Sennheiser momentum wireless 3 (the over-ear headphone) and I am really loving it - the sound and build quality specifically. but first update the smart control app! Guess that’s why they keep going down in price.
Left mine sitting for a few days. In this standby mode, the batteries should last for seven days if not used. They are phenomenal imo.
On Saturday I wasn't going anywhere and left them in the case with the case plugged into my computer (using an AmazonBasics USB-C cable on both ends).
. That’s such a shame.
I don't use the bluetooth wireless function so far (I know it's kinda ironic buying a wireless headphone to use wired). I won’t be picking these up then.
I have used mine non-stop for 3 days with none of the issues listed.
Addressing a battery drain issue that many users complained about with its first-generation true wireless earbuds, by using a different Bluetooth chip that it says “counteracts any power drain possibilities”.
You’d think they would address something like that.
The second-generation model features noise cancelling technology putting it in direct competition with the Apple AirPods Pro, Sony WF-1000XM3, and Panasonic RZ-S500W. It is weird. Moving on, Sennheiser also says that the Momentum True Wireless 2 earbuds also feature come with improved battery life. If the battery is out of the case, the headphones do not know that they should go into "standby" and the battery in the headphones may run out faster.
I'm on my 3rd pair since January. Shouldn't the case be at 100%? New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast, Press J to jump to the feed. I officially have no confidence whatsoever in Sennheiser support.
I then charged the buds using a Galaxy S10+ charger and it took an hour to completely charge which made no sense.
So I’ve seen a few reviewers point out that these earbuds have a battery drain issue? The earbuds though showed 80% in the Bluetooth notification but 100% in the app. So it's not at all unusual to charge the case fully and return to find it drained to some degree (or fully) whether you've used the earbuds recently or not.
I’ll just top them off before use. In summary, I now only use a wall charger with USB-C directly into the charging case and have had no problems since. The left earbud drains more slowly and therefore provides more than four hours of battery time on a single charge. The buds sound great but the battery tech is maddening. Thanks a lot again..Will hold off buying MTW till then . IMO the way the battery works on this system is incredibly bad design, and it bothers me to no end that this information is available absolutely nowhere in Sennheiser's marketing or specs materials, and it wasn't in a single review of the system at launch. Pulsing yellow actually means "... earbuds are being charged via the rechargeable battery of the charging case", whereas it's the solid yellow that means the case is below 50%. firmware 1.25.0 go ahead and update now! If they aren’t fixed I may save up for the IE 80 S wireless.
Got them charged and listening to them now.
I get a answer from Sweden support and it is what it is and no FW fixes in the future: When the headphones are placed in the charging case, they draw a little power from the battery all the time.
Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. Meanwhile, earlier this month they told me the firmware update would be by the end of February. Hi guys! Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts.
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless(MTW) Battery drain issues fixed ? They sat in the case with no charger plugged up to it.
However, late Saturday and just now the case is now slowly pulsing orange which looks like the case is below 50% battery.
So I just picked these up at bestbuy. I'm very close to buying the same ,but heard about this issue everywhere I looked .Wanted to know if the battery drain issue ,when earbuds are kept in the case is resolved or not ? did you charge the case during that time ?
Sennheiser Support also convinced me not to return the MTW after I reached out to them about this battery issue, promising there would be a firmware update to fix this in Q1 of 2019... but we can see how well that worked out.
