View entire discussion ( 8 comments) Despite what my coworkers think, there is a lot of heavy lifting and some days I can barely move. After close (8:30), we do a sweep to sweep customers out, take any necessary breaks, then begin stocking in our assigned areas (freezer, paper pop and chips, or the fence) with forklifts driving out pallets and whatnot for us to stock. You'll be asked to do more than stock. High density warehouses tend to have a more stressful/tense atmosphere and sometimes you'll notice this by how staff behave, are they tired, stressed out, or are they happy, relaxed. It's of no fault of the individual, it's just a lottery in terms of location. You'll be maintaining the floor so it looks good while open. I have extensive experience in PM Merch. But that doesn't mean it can't be done, just that you have to bust your ass. I can do manual labor, but wondering if Costco specifically looks for males to do the stocker positions. Depends on the Warehouse and suburb, it really does differ from place to place. and is fulltime a possibility? From my understanding, it’s rather rare to start out in a FT position as an outside hire.
At 10:45 it's quitting time. It really depends on which department you are stocking, which can change from day to day, and store to store. You might be called to go outside and push buggies. I'm from the busiest store in the region and every day I'm working up a sweat trying to keep up. Also, almost all the positions at Costco can be either part or full time positions. They generally stock and arrange the pallets on display, make signs, and fold clothes if they're assigned to clothing. This is for costco's that are out in the open with a lot of space. But generally the latest you'll be there is 1045 or 11 pm. My question is, what does the person in this job do specifically? I think the hardest part would be getting up early, but I'm tired no matter when I get up in the morning, so I don't know how different it would feel getting up at 4am. At our warehouse, mornings are a lot more relaxed because we manage our own breaks, listen to music, yell across the warehouse at each other and there’s fewer managers around in the mornings to be hovering. Depending on stores most of the stockers are part times until full time opportunities are available. I sit all day and it is the worst! There are full time jobs. Part timer’s generally leave at 10am when the store opens, and full-timers stay on to do other tasks (help in ancillary departments or the front end) until 1:30pm. There can be quite a bit of manual labor involved in the stocker position at Costco, but that is not always the case. Taking a tour of the fence stock, checking freezer stock, etc. Do you usually get two days off in a row? I’ve been doing it for almost 6 years now, and for me it has never gotten easier to get up in the morning, but being done by noon everyday is awesome. You could work at a stressed out warehouse and move to another store and it's completely different in vibe/atmopshere. If you have any further specific questions, let me know.
The number of hours you get is based on number of staff and what the warehouse has budgeted for your department. The pay\ the hours \ the staff \ the experience Any info would be great ! How does management handle staff and spread out workloads, etc.. Again, this is all about location, suburb, the sort of work environments that management has designed. Be prepared to move, and keep moving for the entirety of your shift (minus breaks, of course). Its not a bad gig, you can try to get more hours by calling in early on to help the front end or something. I don't really know what to ask because i don't really know what to expect :D maybe as i asked before starting salaries and raise ? I also was thinking it seemed like the best job at Costco. I love the idea of getting off earlier, even if I worked full time there!
I love it. I'd bust my ass if i knew that i'd even be considered for a promotion (as a new guy). I enjoy the chaos of getting the building opened on time. (If i posted in the wrong section i apologies ). Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. Is it ever a full time position? One of which is relatively small, and in the 2nd trimester of her pregnancy- if that tells you anything. Thanks for your comment! I thought of another question. The staff is also going to vary based on warehouse, not sure how we're expected to answer that one. At my warehouse- most stocker shifts start at 5am. Great benefits, fun job if a bit repetitive, sort of the cow boys of the building. I've been a stocker before though not at Costco. Depending on stores most of the stockers are part times until full time opportunities are available. What kind of hours do you get? What kinda hours do you get a week? :)) ) and maybe save some money for a business.. About two weeks ago I began employment with Costco as a morning stocker. The job itself is pretty easy. They generally stock and arrange the pallets on display, make signs, and fold clothes if they're assigned to clothing. On Sundays and Saturdays there will be more member less stocking hours which is great, and Sunday is "move day" in my store in which end cap products and fence products shuffle for the next week's instant rebate coupons, etc. you'll be assisting members.

It kicks my ass everyday but that's the best part. I've only work office jobs in my life, but sitting all day is really taking it's tole on me. Cookies help us deliver our Services. the pay scale starts at $11.50 and goes up to $20.30 for everyone in the store who is not a service clerk. thank you for the answers i also found some other salary information although it's probably on average: Stocker $11.61/hr \ Night Stocker $15.92/hr (it might vary in other parts of the country >L.A<) http://www.glassdoor.com/Salary/Costco-Wholesale-Los-Angeles-Salaries-EI_IE2590.0,16_IL.17,28_IM508.htm.
If you stay on long enough, you'll probably be turned into a driver or you'll transfer to another department. If it's just a quick job to get you by ... then there's actually probably places that pay better. I stock the books/media department and I love it because it’s probably the only position where you always work alone, so very little drama. I am a 48 year old female and I absolutely love my job. Hope this helps! Mostly Full time positions in the ancillary departments- bakery, deli, meat dept., food court. One other question, what positions allow you to work full time at Costco?
